Arctic Expedition over glaciers, valleys, and frozen fjords, glacier travel and mountain climb.

Crossing Svalbard on skis with sleds from East to West.

    Daily stages approximately 25-30KM

Svalbard is a Norwegian archipelago of nine main islands in the Arctic Ocean, located between mainland Norway and the North Pole. Located on top of the world, it contains endless areas of unspoiled, raw Arctic wilderness.

It is known for its stunning but harsh landscape of glaciers, mountains, and fjords. It is one of the world's northernmost inhabited places and is a demilitarized zone, but it faces environmental challenges due to climate change. The archipelago is home to unique wildlife like polar bears, Svalbard reindeer, and various birds and marine mammals.

Svalbard is a hotspot for Arctic wildlife, including polar bears, Svalbard reindeer, arctic foxes, walruses, seals, and whales.

The archipelago is home to the Svalbard Global Seed Vault, a secure facility for storing duplicate seeds from around the world.

Svalbard’s geological diversity is unique. The archipelago is one of the only places on earth where rocks from practically every geological period may be found within a limited area.

More than 60 million years ago, Svalbard was on the seabed. This all changes when Svalbard crashed with Greenland. Consequently, you will find the unique pointed mountains on the western side of Svalbard. The rock species that are more than 60 million years old are ancient seabed deposits that have risen into what are now mountains.
